The candidate will be tasked with diligence and management of multiple projects to drive pre-construction support and mid to late-stage project development including, but not limited to perfection of real estate rights and title, interconnection, permitting and entitlement, and financing support.
The candidate should have development and or project management experience specifically in New York Community solar including dealing with NYSERA and customer acquisition and management.
What you will do
- Support late-stage development of commercial & industrial and community solar projects to successful start of construction, working with in-house and external subject matter experts.
- Working with developer counterparties to understand project development status and path to project closing.
- Title related work including coordinating surveying activities, assisting with construction related development activities.
- Oversee local zoning and land use permitting procedures, coordinating with Town Boards, Planning Boards, and Zoning Boards to secure necessary approvals.
- Manage permitting and compliance for projects, including completion and submittal of federal, state and local permits.
- Follow through on diligence requests on the project level such as questions on permits and approvals, interconnections, consultant reports, grant funding, construction, and other areas.
- Provide project management to ensure projects are completed within the budget and schedule identified that meets the expectations of the owner.
- Develop and own relationships with external project stakeholders including landowners, utility and federal, state, and local authorities having legal control over project permits.
- Own project status tracking and provide ongoing reporting to appropriate stakeholders.
- Perform routine filings and compliance work related to permitting of projects.
- Manage community solar programs and incentive applications for assigned projects.
- Manage third party community solar customer reporting and management efforts.
- Work with origination, engineering, and construction teams to organize project materials to meet agreed to deadlines.
- Support due diligence for development or acquisition projects, including summarizing project perceived risks and opportunities, including quantitative assessments.
- Support and fulfill tasks in alignment with established budgets and schedules.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or industry equivalent.
- Paralegal experience including real estate entitlements, title work a plus.
- 5+ years of project management experience (renewable energy or real estate development a plus).
- Demonstrably strong organizational skills and experience using project and task tracking tools.
- High initiative and desire to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with executive mentorship and limited task-level direction and supervision.
- As part of a lean and dynamic team, the candidate must be able to plan, oversee, and personally manage numerous projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities.
- Experience with Procore.
- Headquarters located in Westport, CT but would consider remote/hybrid.
- 30% travel.
