This senior role will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of renewable projects, with a focus on solar and to a lesser extent battery, wind and hydrogen systems, among other emerging renewable technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and or civil engineering, a passion for renewable energy and be a self-starter, with a can-do spirit and willingness to work hard in a team environment to achieve shared success.
Demonstrated ability to qualify new project opportunities cooperating with internal and external resources and perform technical due diligence on project feasibility among other similar tasks. Project work will be focused on design guidance and evaluation, not creation and/or stamping of drawings. A depth of experience in the design, engineering and analysis of photovoltaic systems and battery storage systems, ranging in capacity from distributed generation to utility scale opportunities is a prerequisite. The position will include travel to project locations, vendors, client offices, and industry conferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope).
- Provide review of technical inputs to financial models, including costing.
- Generate project scope of work and technical specifications and prepare RFP packages for Engineering and Construction.
- Resolve technical and engineering related issues in a streamlined and efficient manner.
- Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing accuracy of third-party provided information, production estimates, site plans, product documentation and meteorological data.
- Work extensively with PVsyst, AutoCAD and other modelling software packages to prepare design conceptual layouts and generation projection (P50) of ground-mount, rooftop or carport solar systems.
- Work with AutoCAD to convert and prepare all project site data for integration into detailed conceptual layouts and models of solar plants, identifying site constraints such as detailed terrain maps, wetland features, flood zone delineations, and other existing exclusion areas with associated construction limitations and setback requirements (such as transmission lines, wetlands, public roadways, pipelines etc.).
- Review technical documentation (EPC Contract, equipment specifications, warranties, studies, etc.) during due diligence and construction stage with the proven ability to problem solve.
- Provide support regarding risk assessment related to the development of solar facilities.
- Provide inputs based on due diligence of critical documentation pertaining to Electrical, Civil, Structural or Environmental aspect of the PV project.
